Description
With the success of our [Re]fresh Fridays Virtual Series, Our Student Diversity and Inclusion staff is introducing a BRAND NEW virtual series, [Free]dom Fridays, via Webex! This student-centered program is designed to provide a virtual space to have an open dialogue about social justice and identity-based issues with other participants. All are welcome to attend.
This week will be focusing on the recent Black lives lost due to white supremacist and/or state-sanctioned violence. Black Lives (Still) Matter and our staff send thoughts of peace, love, and care to members of the Black/Africana community as they collectively grieve these losses. We acknowledge the difficult challenges of hate-based crimes against the Black Community in addition to being disproportionately affected by an indiscriminate virus.
We hope that you join us as we celebrate the beauty, resilience, contributions, and creativity of Black people to the world.
If you have any questions or have suggestions for a future [Re]fresh Friday or [Free]dom Friday, please email Heidy George, Program Associate for Student Diversity and Inclusion at hmg@umbc.edu or at mosaic@umbc.edu.
