In Recognition of International Pronouns Day
Location

Date & Time
October 18, 2023, 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm
Description
October 18, 2023 is International Pronouns Day as part of LGBTQIA2+ History Month.
This series is geared towards exploring social justice needs for various marginalized populations. We all talk about how diverse UMBC is but, what does that mean in reality? How does it show up in how we communicate and interact with each other? When does celebrating diversity shift into inclusivity that creates positive social change in and outside our campus community? This series hopes to help us grapple with these questions. Join us for a facilitated discussion of these topics, voice your opinions, and hear those of your fellow community members.
Join us for the opportunity to learn all about neopronouns! Neopronouns are pronouns used to refer to someone without expressing gender or to convey gender expressions outside of the binary. Join i3b to become further educated on different ways those around us express themselves.
We will be discussing the history of the usage of Neopronouns, how several common sets are used grammatically, related forms of expression (such as briefly exploring xenogenders) and helping folks to adjust to using pronouns outside of the binary beyond the singular "they!"
If you need to request a disability-based accommodation or have any questions? Contact us at i3b@umbc.edu. For our uploaded event recordings, attendee lists, works cited, and other materials, please check out our Initiatives for Identity, Inclusion & Belonging (i3b) Events Drive. Materials will be available in this Google Drive within one business week after the event unless otherwise specified.
