A message from President Hrabowski and Provost Rous
Dear Members of the UMBC Community,
We welcome you to the start of the fall semester. UMBC is a community of inquiring minds, where we inspire one another to reach our full potential and make an impact.
The beginning of each semester is a moment for each of us to reflect on the goals and values expressed in UMBC’s Vision Statement:
Our UMBC community redefines excellence in higher education through an inclusive culture that connects innovative teaching and learning, research across disciplines, and civic engagement. We will advance knowledge, economic prosperity, and social justice by welcoming and inspiring inquisitive minds from all backgrounds.
The diverse experiences and perspectives represented in our UMBC community enhance our development as scholars and citizens. We encourage informed, respectful dialogue about the challenges our society faces. Let us remember that each of us has a story. Our unique perspectives enrich UMBC and help us reach both our shared and personal goals.
